Tokyo Nat.Museum Gallery of Horyuji-temple Treasures
Recently I have guided overseas friends to Ueno and neighbor area. The first interested place was Tokyo National Museum in Ueno Park. Especially they fascinated with Gallery of Horyuji-temple Treasures
This is frontal view of the building of the gallery. The building is standing quietly in harmony with a pond.
View from the building. If it is fine and quiet day, you can see very beautiful scape reflected on the water.
2nd Gallery at the ground floor, for Buddha statues of 6~8C.AD. Artistic arrangement of exhibition...
6th Gallery at the 1st floor, for the exhibition of 'Painting Illustrated Biography of Prince Shotoku' (this was the exhibition on Oct,2011. It is temporary changed).
6th Gallery at the 1st floor. John and George watching 7th Century silk textile.
Of course, all exhibited collection- including many National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties- are splendid. However plan and architecture of the gallery is also splendid. Plan and architecture totally specialized for the collection shows functional harmony here. I got so many inspiration by conversation with overseas friends. Thanks John and George.
